What is Moon Intern?
Moon Intern is my labor of love. It's a video game project I began several years ago and am still working away on today. This was greatly assisted with the help of nearly 2,000 wonderful gamers, friends and family that helped make its kickstarter camping a success. Here is the basic premise : You are an Intern on the Moon doing odd jobs for a variety of corporations, labs and militias while building a relationship with your soulmate in a serialized 2D Action RPG environment. The story feels very monster of the week, while evoking emotions like love while staying comedic and upbeat. It's impossible to not compare it's format and pacing to that of a comic or television series. Lots of small arcs and stories that keep digging deeper into a rich world and lore.
OriginsAfter drawing these two images back in 2009 I began to form early gameplay ideas about what would eventually be Moon Intern.

The Early DaysThe earliest incarnation of Moon Intern is a luck based guessing game where you try to fix a space ship with lemonade.
The actual proof of concept had much more fun gameplay and action, but no space lemonade :-(

I knew the key goals of Moon Intern was to create an action rpg which gave a player more freedom in the way they play and allowed them to tackle challenges via solving puzzles or fast paced action. The choices the player makes would allow the game to adjust the story and challenges towards the players current play style. In addition the game would have unlimited replay value in the form of random objectives the player encounters through exploration.
The Kickstarter
In July of 2012 I led a band of like-minded developers as we launched a kickstarter with the goal of raising $30,000 to get Moon Intern off the ground. When fund-raising commenced after 30 days we had raised over $43,000 and were able to become COSMOSAUR LLC.
The Development Begins
Immediately after the success of the fund raising we set off on constructing the back bones of the engine with Unity 3D, and writing our story. We saw the appeal in our game and were feeling like we had something magical, so we did what many newcomers so and we thought bigger; the scope of the project at least doubled if not tripled in size.
Development Continues
Lots of assets needed to be and still need to be created. Themes are fun, love and sci-fi. I feel our assets have a very unique look; our enemies are both intimidating and cute at the same time.
Over 400 unique characters are being created for Moon Intern using the likenesses and personalities of our backers. Below is a video of an avatar being created.
Current Status of Moon Intern
Moon Intern is still in development. We're hoping to release a full story consisting of about 10 levels and >2 hours of gameplay sometime in the near future. Below is the most recent trailer for the game.
